What is HAES?
Health at Every Size (HAES) is an evidence-based approach to health based on size inclusivity - the belief that no one should receive different care due to their body size. Like the name suggests, HAES is rooted in promoting health practices at every body size.
Our culture's view of health is based on the idea that we have to look a certain way in order to be healthy, but that couldn't be further from true. Our bodies can manage their own weight, and actually - trying to micromanage weight can be unhealthy both physically and mentally. You can take your life back from dieting, and still be healthy. You'll actually be healthier.

But if I don't diet, what do I do?
This is a common question I receive (and one I had) when first learning about HAES. Without the rules of dieting, how do you know if you're doing things "right"? Those same rules that keep you trapped in a cycle of dieting, "falling off the wagon", and dieting again are the very things that make it easy to feel like you're succeeding at eating - because it's a clear-cut signal.
With intuitive eating, there are no rules - which can seem scary at first. But without rules, there's no failure. And without rules, there's more satisfaction, more balanced eating over time, and more freedom.
